It's an old school Cafe with simple eats. The decor has a small town charm. The food I had was good. I see lots of reviews saying that some of the staff were rude. You've gotta understand that at places like this, the staff may not be super happy and cheery. But they usually do their jobs well. Sometimes during a rush I can understand staff enter what I call "work mode" where they're so focused on making sure drinks are filled, busing tables, orders get out in a timely manner, that they forget to smile. I can definitely understand. Nobody was rude to me.

Friendly service and delicious food. We ordered breakfast to go. All was prepared as ordered and still hot when I got it home.

Every town has that one place where all the locals go to eat breakfast and lunch. The waitresses know them by name, cut up, become friends and celebrate life together. In Saginaw, TX that place is J R's Cafe. Great food, plenty of it, awesome prices (so low you'd probably want to tip more than 20%), and friendly staff.

Good food and nice service... give them a try.Updated on Nov 15-- Hope is the best! Super sweet lady who makes you feel like family! She remembers what I ate, and my drink preferences.. everything is good... pancakes, sausage, even lunch. You can't go wrong. Once you try them, you'll be a lifelong customer...and family!

When the service is good, this place is ok at best. When the service is bad, its not worth it at all. Got a "French dip" that was literally just two slices of roast beef on a toasted hoagie. No cheese, no onions or bell pepper.

Good water good coffee and my hashbrowns (loaded with cheddar cheese, (fresh) bell pepper and onions) that I got for my meal were very tasty. Didnt even need to add extras like ketchup or salt to them. Cant wait to try kore from them. Waitress was also very nice.

This place has great food but TERRIBLE phone service! Whatever you do DO NOT call and bother them by placing a pick up order. They will feel free to tell you how much time you are waistng of theirs.... I almost said never mind with the order but it was for my whole office (4 people's orders) and everyone was looking forward to it. Waited to post this until we actually ate the food that I called and bother them to make for us. One order had raw hamburger patty. The burger that was ordered was no good.

The ham used on the triple decker club was sandwich ham filled with fat.

Was there for lunch with my wife, the liver and onions meal was terrible. Liver looked/tasted re-cooked, mashed potatoes luke warm and dinner roll was hard like a rock. My wife tortilla soup was barely warm. I won't recommend this place for lunnch.

Took forever. Got order wrong. Ordered bacon cheese omelette got ham. Ordered medium eggs. One was hard one medium and one runny. Went once will be only time. But they kept coffee full so that was good. People paying in front of us had their order messed up too.

First time here. I've been trying to become familiar with restaurants in the town of Saginaw since this is now my home. I decided to order a crispy chicken salad and a club sandwich with fries. My order was to-go. Maybe it would've better if I would've ate there but here's my take on my order. 1. Salad - I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of chicken tenders on the salad. What I didn't care for was that the cheese had melted on the lettuce and the tomatoes were warm. The chicken tenders had no flavor-AT ALL. 2. Club sandwich - looked delicious had a great amount of meat and toppings. The bread was toasted and it came with three slices with one in the middle. The middle bread was a problem for me because it was wet. Wet from the tomatoes and mayo. I ended up just taking that bread off the sandwich. The fries weren't seasoned with anything either. My meal was $15 and I'm on the fence if I'll go back. I might have to keep lookin for a mom & pop with a delicious salad.

Was looking for a mom and pop place and this one didn't disappoint! Excellent food, food was out quick and the nicest people. Our waitress Victoria was just as sweet as could be. Will definitely recommend this place!

My husband and I are new to Saginaw. We went here for breakfast for the first time, and we were so impressed! The pancakes were super fluffy, some of the best I've ever had. The prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!
